Use, care & safety

MSWK is a natural miswak stick (Salvadora persica) for cleaning your teeth. Please read this guide before first use and keep it for later. It explains how to use the stick, how to look after it, and what to watch out for.

Before first use

  • Our sticks are packed fresh and slightly moist. Moisture or condensation inside the sleeve, an earthy, peppery smell and a slightly oily surface are normal for fresh miswak.
  • Each stick is a natural product. Length, thickness, colour and taste vary from stick to stick.
  • If the tip feels hard or dry, soak it in clean water for a few minutes before you start.

How to use

  1. Peel about 1 cm (Β½ inch) of bark from one end.
  2. Chew the peeled end gently until the fibres separate into soft bristles.
  3. Brush gently for about two minutes: hold the stick upright against the tooth and move it up and down, away from the gum line. On chewing surfaces, move it back and forth. Do not scrub hard sideways along the gums.
  4. Spit out any loose fibres and rinse the stick with clean water.

Trimming and replacing

  • Cut off the used bristles (about 1 cm) every day or two, or as soon as they look worn, flattened or discoloured. Then peel and chew a fresh tip. Freshly cut bristles taste strongest.
  • Replace the stick after about 2–3 weeks of regular use, or earlier if it becomes too short to hold comfortably or develops an unpleasant smell.

Storage

  • Leave sticks in their sealed sleeve until you start using them. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • After each use, rinse the stick, shake off the water and let it air-dry with the brushing end up β€” for example in a ventilated case or an open cup.
  • Do not store a wet stick in a closed, airtight container.
  • Do not use a stick that shows fuzzy growth, slime or dark spots, or that keeps a sour or musty smell after trimming. Send us a photo at support@labe-accessories.com and we will help.

Safety warnings

  • Choking hazard. Small pieces and loose fibres can come off. Do not swallow the stick or any pieces of it, and spit out loose fibres.
  • Do not push the stick deep into your mouth or throat, and do not use it to make yourself gag.
  • Use the stick only while sitting or standing still. Do not use it while walking, running, exercising, lying down or driving, and do not leave it in your mouth unattended.
  • Keep out of reach of young children. Not for children under 3. Children may use MSWK only under adult supervision and while sitting still.
  • Brush gently. If your gums bleed, become sore or recede, or your teeth become sensitive, stop using the stick and see your dentist.
  • Stop using the stick if you notice burning, itching, swelling or a rash in or around your mouth. Seek emergency medical help immediately if you have difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, face or throat.
  • If a piece is swallowed or gets stuck and you have pain, difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing, seek medical help immediately.
  • Ask your dentist before use if you have braces, implants, crowns or bridges, gum disease, very sensitive teeth, or have recently had oral surgery.
  • For personal use only. Do not share your stick.
